Ad infinitum.

Standard

Saturdays are always the same. A queue of people out of the door, very few tickets left for anything, and every last customer going, “what ya got left for tonight that’s cheap and good?”. So to try and stave off the impending madness, I like to take one of our show guides and with a big black marker slash out the shows that have sold out, then stick it to the countertop. 9 out of 10 times this is proceeded by the following…

Customer: What ya got left for tonight that’s cheap and good?
Me: There’s a list of shows on the counter. If it’s crossed out, it’s sold out.
C: Hang on, come again. If it’s what?
Me: If it’s been crossed out, it’s now sold out.
C: So… You’re saying… These ones here with the crosses through are the ones we can buy?
Me: That’s right. I thought the most efficient way to conduct this transaction would be to black out the entirety of the show’s name and scheduling details so you’d have to guess what I had left, whilst leaving the ones that were unavailable in clear view.
C: So can we get 5 to Matilda?
Me: Has it got a cross through it?
C: Yeah.
Me: If it’s crossed out, it’s sold out. NEXT!

Next Customer: What ya got left for tonight that’s cheap and good?
Me: There’s a list of shows on the counter. If it’s crossed out, it’s sold out.
NC: Hang on, come again. If it’s …

Ad infinitum.
